Omg. This is so relatable π Bought two things this morning on Net-a-Porter because a dress I wanted was back in stock and now sitting here I am kind of regretting it because I really donβt need that dress!! So will heed your advice next time the urge hits π
Relatable π What I do in that case, when the impulse just kicks in and I can't help it (I mean, we could, but we just don't want to) I start making outfits with that item and then seriously wear it so I can bring the cost per wear down. Since I started really dividing my wishlist into items I really need and craving list, I did better. Not great, but better. Work in progress.. Enjoy your dress, I'm sure it's beautiful β€οΈ
Can't wait to hear what you think! I also read mostly on weekends, between baby and starting up the business again it gets to be a lot. This is my joyful moment and I love savoring without being disrupted πβ€οΈ
I donβt how people afford all this βstuffβ? Am I the only one not making $100,000βs of thousands of dollars a year? $1,150 for a straw Row bag? π³I canβt even fathom
I am not sure how to answer that exactly. I get your frustration, though. I think a lot of us feel that these are strange times, for sure. I work in the industry, and have been working since 2008, so maybe itβs different than your experience. I am also not American and donβt have a pile of debt from going to university. Also, we can all dream about beautiful things, and whether we choose to buy something or not should be a personal decision.
I absolutely agree itβs a personal decision, it was not meant as a personal attack π.
I am not American either , and have been working full time for 40 years of my 58 years. My husband makes a large salary as well in the entertainment industry and I still dont have the excess to purchase $500 pants and $8,000 handbags.
I am just trying to figure out how people do it π
I really appreciate your answer. I donβt know how everyone shops for luxury items, but most people working in fashion have access to discounts, pr samples, etc. Also, most websites offer a % off for first time shoppers. Itβs not a lot, but itβs not nothing either.
But anyway, itβs an interesting topic. This platform is my happy place, I donβt mean to make anyone upset, especially over a bag :)
This was a really fun read as I relate a lot to what youβre writing! I am however on a different budget than you and envy your ability to shop my aspirational brandsπ₯°
I think we all go through some sort of emotional rollercoaster when it comes to clothes and purchasing. My budget is based on my work, sometimes it pays off sometimes I need to work more..

Yes!! This is helpful for me too. Just glad someone out there understands how my brain works on a daily basis!!! ππ
I canβt wait to savor this! I am reserving reading Substack for weekends nowβ and online shopping too. More to come xoxo π

Thank you for reading! xx
honestly, I could really use a slow buy month! Congrats on your Margaux, though, as that is truly a beautiful investment!
Thank you! It was quite the chase π
